Prelude To Peace follows the extraordinary journey of Tan Kah Kee – a self-made entrepreneur, philanthropist, and community leader – who rose from humble beginnings in Fujian to become one of the most influential overseas Chinese figures in British Malaya. While building a business empire and founding schools and a university, Tan’s true legacy emerged during China’s darkest hour, when Japanese forces unleashed brutal aggression across East Asia. As the homeland bled, Tan rallied the Chinese diaspora across Southeast Asia into action.
