A Taste Of Teochew Opera

Be mesmerized by a master craftswoman of Teochew opera as Hui Ling performs the role of Zhuang Ji in The Orphan of Zhao and others, including puppetry opera.

Goh Hui Ling is the troupe leader of the Kim Giak Low Choon Teochew Opera Troupe. Born to a family of puppet masters, she has an enduring bond with the art of puppetry. Under the tutelage of the older generation of artistes, she has built a strong foundation in puppetry and character portrayals. Her strong interest in Teochew opera had led her to Shantou, China, where she further refined her opera performance, stage postures and singing, as well as performed in the third Shantou International Teochew Opera Festival in 2008.
