A recipient of several awards - including the first prize in the prestigious Jacobson Piano Competition and the Grindea Award for Best Pianist - Fung Ying enjoys extensive performing and teaching experience, and has participated in television broadcast and recording in the United Kingdom. After obtaining her Fellowship and Bachelor of Music in piano performance, she furthered her music study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where received her Master of Music in Piano Performance, with distinction. Fung Ying is also keen on research and received her Ph.D in Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Sheffield, UK. While abroad, she was invited to present her research papers at international music conferences and has given solo piano recitals at various concert halls, including those at St. Martin-in-the-Field and St. John Smith's Square. She is also an active composer with Dama Orchestra with over 20 productions to date, five albums and three sold-out musicals: Empress Wu, I Have A Date With Spring and Butterfly Lovers. She is currently the Deputy Director of Cultural Centre at Universiti Malaya.
